At Psychiatry & More, we know life can be difficult and often individuals may struggle with mental illness and not know how to get help. Our experienced providers are ready to partner with you to overcome your struggles and return you to optimal health and wellness. We believe that every person has the power to reach their potential and achieve their dreams.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of mental health services including assessment and diagnosis of mental illness, formulation of a comprehensive treatment plan including medication management and psychotherapy. We can also provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for individuals who are battling substance abuse.

Together the provider and patient will complete an in depth interview and assessment to determine an appropriate diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is reached, a unique treatment plan can be formulated for the patient and appropriate interventions prescribed. Treatment plans may include recommendation or medication management services.

Psychiatry & More offers genetic testing through a specialized lab. Test results can provide the clinician with information regarding any genetic variations that the patient may have that can affect the body's metabolism and response to psychiatric medications.

Meet the Team
Brenda James - DNP, APRN-CNP, FNP, PMHNP-BC
Brenda James is a certified nurse practitioner with over 30 years experience within the medical field. Brenda's educational background includes graduation from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) in 1992. She became board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2006 after graduating from Texas Women's University with a Masters of Science in Nursing with a Family Practice specialization. Brenda continued her educational journey and earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing in 2013. Additionally, Brenda James holds a second board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with the completion of an additional Master's degree from Maryville University in the spring of 2020.
Brenda James has extensive experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings as well as clinical research including Phase I clinical trials. Brenda can evaluate and manage patients across the lifespan but has a specialization within the pediatric population.
Leslie Whisenhunt (Jenny)-MSN, CPNP-PC, PMHNP-BC
Jenny is a dedicated Certified Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience specializing in the mental health needs of children.
Jenny Whisenhunt earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from Oklahoma City University in 2005. Her early nursing career encompassed roles in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Dialysis, and Home Health Care. In 2010, Jenny completed a Master of Nursing and obtained board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She later expanded her clinical expertise by earning a Post-Master's Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Duke University in 2025.
With a strong foundation in both pediatric and psychiatric care, Jenny delivers comprehensive and compassionate mental health services to individuals across the lifespan. She takes a holistic approach to treatment, valuing the mind-body connection and partnering with patients to develop personalized, evidence-based care plans. Her clinical expertise includes medication management, psychotherapy, and a wide range of therapeutic interventions. Jenny is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where her patients feel empowered to heal and thrive.
Jenny is married and has two grown children, along with several grandchildren whom she adores. She is also an animal lover who enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors.
